私の場合もＯＳは、 TurboLinux 8 Workstation、メンテナンスアップ
デート済みで小池さんと同じです。
マシンは SOTEC PC STATION M250V ですが,
コンパイルは無事終了してインストールも完了しました。
下記に問題部分を載せておきます。

私は素人で、内容がしっかり理解出来ていないので何も申し上げられ
ないですが、確かに、
checking the maximum length of command line arguments...
でずいぶんと長い時間待たされました。（３０分以上でしょうね。）
同時に立ち上げていた、Mozilla、xemacs、XMMS  などを終了させた
途端に、この停滞から一気に抜け出しました。
偶然で関係無いかも知れませんが報告いたします。
